AFCA Coaching Programme - Example Daily timetable

The AFCA Coaching Programme has been designed with input from Freddie himself, as well as ECB Level 4 and National Development Coaches and childcare professionals. We understand what is required at every level and age to have fun and deliver a stimulating, challenging and exciting coaching and activity programme.

The Andrew Flintoff Cricket Academy is not just a skills development camp. We offer exciting and interesting sessions in core skill development that are useful in both a sporting context and in wider life and social environments.

We understand that to develop young children holistically they cannot play cricket for 8 hours a day. We enhance our programme with additional education in the following areas as part of the Academy.

  • Creative writing and research (based around Freddie and/or the International Cricketer visiting)
  • Leadership
  • Communication and problem solving in teams
  • Creative cricket arts and crafts (Freddie Juniors only)
  • Maths within cricket
  • Diet and Nutrition (10 years and above)

An example timetable of activities is shown below. Every day on the Academy is different and varied but all children will take part in a minimum of 3 coaching sessions each day and and the structure and length of each session may vary and change. Our afternoons are tactical and game-play based sessions including middle practices, net scenarios, TGFUs (Teaching Games for Understanding) and small sided matches. Each group's curriculum is age/ability related and players may be moved to different groups to be challenged appropriately.
