The Andrew Flintoff Cricket Academy Coaching Programme has been designed with input from Freddie himself, as well as ECB Level 4 and National Development Coaches alongside childcare professionals.
We understand what is required at every level and age to have fun and deliver a stimulating, challenging and exciting coaching and activity programme.
Every day the camp will take part in batting, bowling and fielding technical sessions, delivered in fun, engaging and challenging methods.
Our afternoons are tactical and game-play based sessions including middle practices, net scenarios, TGFUs (Teaching Games for Understanding) and small sided matches.
Each group's curriculum is age/ability related and players may be moved to different groups to be challenged appropriately.
Every child will complete a worksheet during the camp which includes feedback provided by their coach at the end of the camp. All children who attend the full camp receive a free t-shirt. We also have spot prizes, certificates and one child will receive the BE AT YOUR BEST award for displaying the best Bravery, Enthusiasm, Sportsmanship and Teamwork during the week.
The BLAST! Coaching Programme follows a similar pattern to AFCA, including a technical session each day on batting, bowling and fielding with tactical and game-play throughout the day.
After setting the foundations, the BLAST! technical sessions will focus on modern techniques used in Twenty20 cricket including the ramp shot, boundary hitting, boundary catching, Yorker bowling and much more!
Activate Camps have trained managers on every site who come from a variety of different backgrounds. We actively recruit school teachers, PGCE students, qualified sports coaches and childcare professionals to take our management roles. The professional staff we employ helps us exceed the high standard that are set and expected by Ofsted. All our staff are DBS checked and we will always have at least one first aid trained staff member on site at all time.
We recognize the importance of health and safety and child welfare. We are the only provider of our kind that has training developed in partnership with Cardinus Risk Management and approved by the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management.
Freddie Flintoff is a unique cricketer and person who plays the game with passion, heart and enthusiasm. These qualities are essential for any potential AFCA coach or manager. The Academies offer a unique cricketing experience and develops individual cricketers to do this with a big smile on their face. The Academy creates an environment where children can learn by having fun and the freedom to express themselves as cricketers. The aim of the Academy is to not only coach children but also inspire them.
All our coaches are ECB qualified and all staff are DBS checked. All staff also go through our in-house training to deliver 'The Freddie Way' which is certified by IIRSM.
We take our responsibilities for the care of each child at our camps very seriously. This page is designed to provide all necessary and useful information for parents; from the timings of a typical day to our booking terms and conditions.
